An annual Spelling Challenge EVENT that brings together children from primary schools to compete in spelling positive difficult English words.
The climax of every year’s Spelling Bee is a National Championship where one student emerges as champion.
Age 6-9 years
Age 10-13 years
This is the first phase; it will bring together all the contact teachers and head teachers from the schools that have committed to participate in TNSBC 2020 regional wise.
In this forum, we will have an opportunity to share experiences and knowledge about the Spelling Bee in depth with the teachers, explaining why we are doing the Spelling Bee, the impact it will have and how it should be carried out in Schools.
We shall also introduce materials to be used like the words children will spell and share with them the rules of engagement. The teachers will be encouraged to form Reading Clubs in schools where children will be able to participate and get to represent their houses and schools.
In 2020 we plan to expand the Spelling Bee competition and include five more regions namely Lindi and Zanzibar, in addition to Dar es Salaam; However, Dar es Salaam districts (Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke, Kigamboni and Ubungo) will be treated as Project regions and hence make a total of 7 regions competing in this year’s finals.
